Día de Muertos, San Miguel de Allende

Para este año pude conjuntar dos de mis cosas favoritas: la fiesta del Día de Muertos y el hermoso pueblo de San Miguel de Allende.

Había escuchado hablar del festival de la Calaca y por fin pude asistir. ¡Es genial!

Las calles están súper animadas, llenas de gente, color. La flor naranja de chempasúchitl está por todos lados. Encuentras altares, calaveras y flores en las tiendas, hoteles, restaurantes y jardines.

Por cierto que está como de moda que en las bodas que se realizan en el pueblo, los novios se paseen por las calles con sus invitados acompañados por música de mariachis. Nos toco ver una de noche y otra e día. Se veía muy divertido. 😊

Hay varias actividades del festival: exposiciones, conferencias y fiestas. En el jardín principal un hombre te pintaba la cara de catrina o catrín. No era nada caro y él era bueno. Me gustó mi diseño, jeje.

Visité también por primera vez a La Aurora, una antigua fábrica textil construida allá por 1902. Ahora es un lugar de arte y diseño y está llena de tiendas y galerías. La verdad es sorprendente encontrar un lugar tan sofisticado en un pueblito.

También les recomiendo ir a la terraza del hotel Rosewood, donde se tiene una de las mejores vistas de San Miguel. Vayan allí a ver el atardecer. ¡Genial!

Ha sido uno de los mejores días de muertos que he tenido. Es una experiencia que no se pueden perder.

This year I was able to combine two of my favorite things: A celebration of Day of the Dead and the beautiful town of San Miguel de Allende.

I had heard of the la Calaca festival and I was finally able to attend. It’s great!

The streets are super lively, crowded, full of color. The orange flower chempasúchitl is everywhere. Altars, skulls and flowers are found in stores, hotels, restaurants, gardens.

Curiously, it seems like trendy that at weddings that take place in the village, the bride and groom walk around the streets with their guests accompanied by mariachi music. We had the chance to see  one at  night and another one at day. It looked really  fun.  😊

There are several festival activities including exhibitions, conferences and parties. In the main garden a man would  paint  your face like a Catrina and or a dandy. It’s was not  expensive and he was very good. I liked my design! lol.

I also I visited for the first time La Aurora, a former textile factory built back in 1902. Now it is a place of art and design and is full of shops and galleries. Is surprising to find such a sophisticated place in a small town.

I also recommend going to the hotel Rosewood terrace , where you have one of the best views of San Miguel. Go there to watch the sunset. It’s Great!

It has been one of the best Days of the dead holiday that I have ever had. It is an experience not to be missed.
